Foothills’ Elementary Choir is for kids in grades K through 5 who enjoy singing. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 11:15 to 11:45 AM in the Choir Room, from the last week of August through mid-May. Director Kristin Burns teaches beginning music reading and singing skills through a variety of songs, games, and exercises. No reading ability or prior musical experience is necessary to join. Each year Elementary Choir sings for the congregation three times and gives a short concert at a senior care facility, all decked out in their beautiful blue robes.
Rehearsal and performance material is carefully selected to provide a well-rounded repertoire which promotes the Elementary Choir’s goals of learning, fun, and sharing the joy of singing together within our Christian community.
Kristin grew up at Foothills and has been leading music in the Children’s Program here since 1982. Kristin was invited to direct Foothills’ Elementary Choir when it was formed in 2007. She is a classically-trained pianist, who regularly accompanies our adult choir and substitutes for our organist when he is away. Her school-aged children, Anna and Sam, are active participants at Foothills, as are their grandparents!
