Every year youth and adults from Foothills go on a Service Trip. Recently our youth have chosen to focus on two main justice issues, housing and the environment. In recent years we have traveled to New Orleans to work in a neighborhood still recovering from Hurricane Katrina (2015), Stockton with Sierra Service Project to do building and repair in an underprivileged community, and Pacific Grove to do environmental service to the ocean and shore.
As a church family we are lucky. While some of us have experienced housing insecurity in these tough economic times, we have adequate shelter. We have a wish that all people could have adequate shelter and we work towards a day when our wish will come true.
Genesis tells us that when God created the heavens and the earth God immediately saw that it was good. We see that the earth is good, too, and we strive to participate in activities that promote and protect God’s creation.
There are many ways to be involved in this effort, from going on the trip to helping to raise money to sponsor the trip to learning more about the justice issues of our mission work.
